Lamprell and RTE International have signed a memorandum of understanding that sets out a non exclusive basis to collaborate on high voltage transmission systems for offshore wind. The partnership is centred on what Lamprell describes as an offshore wind EPCI high voltage transmission system wrap, bringing engineering, procurement, construction, and installation into a single delivery concept for export cable systems that connect offshore windfarms to onshore grids.

What the Combined Offering Is Intended to Deliver

Under the MOU the two companies plan to combine capabilities across offshore structures, subsea installation, and high voltage transmission engineering to pursue integrated solutions for future projects. The commercial logic is to reduce interface risk across export cable packages, where delivery problems often arise at the boundaries between offshore fabrication, subsea installation, and onshore grid integration, and where schedule delays can cascade into late energisation and constrained revenue start.

Lamprell’s Offshore Build and Installation Track Record

Lamprell is best known for EPCI contracting in the offshore energy sector, with experience delivering complex onshore infrastructure, offshore process modules, jackets and platforms, and services for jack-up rigs and liftboats. The company employs more than 6,000 people and operates major facilities in Hamriyah and Jebel Ali in the United Arab Emirates. In offshore wind it has expanded into constructing jack-up vessels, jacket foundations and transition pieces, and high voltage AC and DC platforms and jackets, positioning it to support export system scope that depends on heavy fabrication and offshore installation competence.

RTE International’s Transmission Engineering Role

RTE International is a France-based consulting and engineering company specialising in electricity transmission and is a subsidiary of RTE, the largest transmission system operator in Europe. The firm provides services across development, operation, and maintenance of power grids, bringing power systems expertise that aligns with export cable design, grid connection requirements, and the technical assurance work needed to integrate offshore generation reliably into onshore networks.

Why This Matters for Offshore Wind Delivery

Export cable systems have become a critical path risk in many offshore wind projects because they sit at the intersection of marine construction, high voltage engineering, permitting, and grid readiness. By offering an integrated EPCI wrap that spans offshore and transmission disciplines, Lamprell and RTE International are positioning themselves for a market where developers want fewer handoffs, stronger accountability, and more predictable energisation timelines as project sizes grow and HV export solutions become more complex.
