Rotterdam-based maritime technology company PortXchange has announced plans to expand its EmissionInsider platform with multimodal emissions monitoring, forecasting, scenario modeling, and AI-assisted decarbonization planning. Announced on 2 November 2026, the new capabilities are designed to help ports move beyond annual emissions reporting and use environmental data to guide operational decisions and infrastructure investments.

The expanded platform will cover emissions from vessels, trucks, rail transport and cargo-handling equipment, providing a broader assessment of port activities. PortXchange is developing four interconnected products: Emission Report, Emission Dashboard, Emission Simulations and Emission Strategy.

Emission Report will support structured emissions reporting across ports with different levels of data availability, while Emission Dashboard will provide more regular monitoring of operational activities and environmental performance. The multimodal approach aims to help ports identify major emissions sources and track progress towards reduction targets.

The planned forecasting tools will help ports anticipate how vessel schedules, weather disruptions and changing traffic conditions could affect emissions. Emission Simulations will allow operators to assess potential investments, including shore power installations, equipment electrification, vessel speed restrictions and infrastructure changes, before committing capital.

Emission Strategy will introduce AI-assisted planning capabilities to help ports identify and prioritize decarbonization measures based on their operations, emissions profiles, and investment objectives. The modular platform will allow individual ports to select products and data integrations according to their requirements.

Sjoerd de Jager, Managing Director and Co-Founder of PortXchange, said ports need to understand which investments will deliver measurable emissions reductions rather than relying solely on historical reporting. Eugene Sypachev, Head of Engineering, highlighted the need to connect sustainability reporting with daily port operations.

The new capabilities will be introduced progressively, although PortXchange has not disclosed specific release dates, pricing, or customer deployment figures. The company has also not provided independently verified performance results for the planned forecasting and simulation tools.
