TotalEnergies has signed agreements with PETRONAS Carigali, PTTEP and KUFPEC to acquire a 30% operated interest in the Lang Lebah and B14 offshore gas fields near Sarawak, Malaysia. Announced on 2 November 2026, the proposed acquisition covers a combined development containing more than 6.5 trillion cubic feet of gas resources, equivalent to over one billion barrels of oil equivalent.
Lang Lebah, one of Malaysia's largest offshore gas discoveries, and the neighboring B14 field are planned to be developed together using shared infrastructure. The project is expected to supply the existing Malaysia LNG liquefaction facility, with a targeted production plateau of approximately 10 billion cubic meters of gas annually. The development would strengthen Malaysia's LNG supply capacity for Asian markets.
After completing the transactions, TotalEnergies will become the operator with a 30% interest, while Thailand's PTTEP and Kuwait's KUFPEC will each hold 25%. PETRONAS Carigali will retain the remaining 20%.

The agreements extend TotalEnergies' existing investments in Malaysia's offshore gas industry. The company acquired SapuraOMV's upstream assets in 2024 and expanded its partnership with PETRONAS in 2025, strengthening its presence in the country's gas production sector.
Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, said the integrated development would establish another major Malaysian gas hub while supporting growing LNG demand across Asia.
The transactions remain subject to regulatory approvals. TotalEnergies has not disclosed the acquisition value, development investment, or expected production start date.
