NOV has secured contracts to provide equipment packages and design licences for two new T-Class offshore wind foundation installation vessels ordered by Cadeler. Awarded during the third quarter of 2026 and announced on 4 November, the contracts cover vessels scheduled for delivery in mid-2030 and the first quarter of 2031, respectively.

The two newbuilds will become Cadeler's tenth and eleventh GustoMSC-designed jack-up vessels. They will be based on the third generation of NOV's NG-20000X design, developed to accommodate the increasingly large foundations required for offshore wind projects in deeper waters.

The T-Class design builds on Cadeler's existing P-Class and A-Class vessels, incorporating greater crane capacity and improvements to the jacking system. One of the main developments is GustoMSC's asymmetric rack-and-pinion technology, designed to increase preload capacity and improve vessel performance during offshore foundation installation.

These capabilities are intended to support the installation of next-generation ultra-large monopile foundations as offshore wind turbines become larger and projects move into more challenging marine environments. The additional lifting and jacking capacity will allow the vessels to handle heavier foundations and evolving installation requirements.

The contracts continue the collaboration between NOV, Cadeler and COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry on specialised offshore wind installation vessels. NOV has not disclosed the contract values or detailed technical specifications for the two newbuilds.
