Yakamoz Expands Tugboat Fleet and Starts Operations in New Turkish Ports

Yakamoz, a joint venture between Med Marine and Marin Tug, has taken delivery of two more newbuild harbour tugboats after starting port-service contracts in Aliağa and Gemlik in Turkey. Med Marine built the vessels at its Eregli shipyard using a Robert Allan RAstar 3200-W design, as sister vessels to two delivered earlier in July. The 80-tonne bollard pull tugs are designed for demanding harbour operations, with the joint venture now operating a 46-vessel fleet across five Turkish port areas.

 

Details of the Delivery

 

Yakamoz has taken delivery of new tugs. It received two more harbour tugboats. These were built in Turkey. The joint venture involves two companies. These are Med Marine and Marin Tug.

The deliveries follow new contracts. The venture started two port-service contracts. These are in Aliağa and Gemlik. Both are in Turkey. This reflects an expansion strategy.

 

The Vessel Design

 

Med Marine built the new vessels. This was at its Eregli shipyard. It used a Robert Allan design. They are sister vessels to earlier tugs. These were delivered in July 2026.

The vessels share consistent specifications. They are 25.2-metre tugs. They have a beam of 12 metres. Their bollard pull is 80 tonnes. They accommodate eight crew members.

 

The New Operations

 

The vessels support new port operations. Yakamoz started operations in Aliağa. This began on 8 September. It also started operations in Gemlik. This began on 17 September.

These build on earlier expansion. The venture began operations in July. This covered Ceyhan and İskenderun. The Aliağa 1 area was also included. This reflects steady growth.

The Vessels' Capabilities

 

The vessels handle demanding operations. These include ship escort and towing. Manoeuvring is also within their scope. Berthing and undocking feature too. This suits busy Turkish ports.

The vessels also support emergencies. They have firefighting capabilities. They can be equipped for rescue. Oil-spill response is also possible. Twin engines drive azimuth thrusters.

 

The Broader Context

 

The venture continues to grow. More newbuild tugs are likely soon. Med Marine cited its shipbuilding capabilities. Its Eregli shipyard supports this. Its tugboat experience also contributes.

The venture operates a substantial fleet. It has 46 vessels in total. This includes 32 tugboats. Fourteen mooring boats complete the fleet. It serves five Turkish port areas.

 

The Shipyard Development

 

Med Marine is also expanding its shipyard. It gained class support for a project. This is for a floating dock. A classification society will support it. This covers its Eregli shipyard.

The floating dock is substantial. It will be 120 metres long. It will have a 36-metre width. Its lifting capacity will be 7,000 tonnes. This enhances the shipyard's capabilities.
